Idaho is on the not-authorized side of NKU's state tables for the MSN tracks, the post-master's DNP and the RN-to-BSN, and NKU's NP programs don't accept Idaho applicants. So Idaho nurses can't study with NKU from home or train with Idaho preceptors. Montana, Utah and Nevada, along Idaho's borders, each have NKU programs open.

NKU approves preceptors only when they practice in a state on its current approved list. Boise, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls all sit outside that list, which means Idaho hospitals and practices, including large employers such as Kootenai Health, Saint Alphonsus and St. Luke's, can't host NKU practicum hours.
The same limit binds NKU students who live in a neighboring open state. A student in Utah or Nevada can't cross into Idaho for a rotation, even a short drive away. And for Coeur d'Alene nurses eyeing Spokane, Washington offers no NKU route either, since it too sits in the not-authorized column.
Idaho Code 54-1406 and the Board's rule at IDAPA 24.34.01.150 govern programs taught inside Idaho. Neither mentions clinical placements by schools based elsewhere, and the Board's website simply points such schools to its licensing office by email. A separate rule lets a licensed RN, or one holding the compact privilege, who is a matriculated student of an accredited APRN program work at the APRN level when the curriculum calls for it.
Under the Board's education policy of April 10, 2024, a preceptor's license has to match or exceed the level the student is training toward. Idaho is a compact member, since January 19, 2018, and a full-practice state in AANP's grouping.
Nevada, to the south, takes every NKU online program, NP tracks included. Montana is cleared for education, leadership, doctoral and BSN-completion study, though NKU doesn't accept NP applicants from Montana. Utah is open to the MSN tracks and DNP; its RN-to-BSN row is closed. Washington, Oregon and Wyoming are not authorized.
Relocating nurses need NKU admissions to sign off on the new address and need licensure that covers the new state. Nevada is outside the compact, so a Nevada license is needed; Montana and Utah are covered on their own pages. See Montana, Utah and Nevada.

No. Idaho falls outside the 11 states whose residents may apply to NKU's NP concentrations and certificates. NKU's other online nursing programs, from Nursing Education to the RN-to-BSN, are listed as not authorized in Idaho as well.
No. Idaho holds no approved status for any NKU online program, and NKU's preceptors must work in approved states. A student in Nevada, Utah or Montana needs a preceptor in their own approved state or another state on NKU's list.
Yes. On NKU's MSN and certificate table Montana is authorized, so both the education and leadership tracks are available, and the doctoral and RN-to-BSN rows list it as authorized too. NP applicants from Montana aren't accepted. Expect 200 practicum hours in Nursing Education: a 50-hour direct-care block in MSN 614L, then a 150-hour MSN 670 capstone.
Raise it with your advisor and concentration coordinator ahead of the move. A change of state can affect program standing, NKU says, and Idaho's not-authorized listing covers every online NKU nursing program, so the practicums still ahead of you might not be completable there.
